Damages Analysis

Trident's experts draw on economic expertise, complex modeling techniques, and thorough industry knowledge to objectively assess damages in a variety of litigation contexts. They are known for their ability to effectively communicate their analyses and conclusions to corporate clients, attorneys, mediators, arbitrators, judges, and juries.

Trident has assessed damages in cases involving companies in the banking, communications, construction, insurance, oil and gas, pipeline, retail, and technology sectors. For example, Dr. Shapiro was retained by counsel for a large insurance company to provide his expert opinion on the damages suffered by the plaintiff arising from alleged fraudulent transactions involving the insurance company. The experts and professionals at Trident analyzed a wide range of information, including transaction documents, analyst opinions, statements by regulators, stock price behavior, and credit conditions, to assess the likelihood that certain events would have taken place in the absence of the alleged fraud. Dr. Shapiro concluded the plaintiff did not suffer any damages resulting from the alleged fraud. The courts agreed with Dr. Shapiro by dismissing the suit in 2007.
