Trident Consulting Group (Trident) is a leader in finance and economics consulting. Trident combines the expertise of its two founding directors, Dr. Alan C. Shapiro and Dr. Atulya Sarin, with the exceptional research and support capabilities of affiliates and consultants with advanced degrees (Ph.D., J.D. or M.B.A.) and significant litigation consulting experience. The founding directors of Trident are distinguished financial economists. Their publications include more than 75 articles that have appeared in leading finance, economics, accounting, and management journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Harvard Business Review, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Business, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Financial Management, Management Science, Academy of Management Journal, and Journal of Applied Corporate Finance. Their 2000 paper, "The Private Company Discount," co-authored with John Koeplin, was recently named one of the ten most downloaded papers in the Social Science Research Network eLibrary (Financial Economics Network Partners in Publishing Journals) over the past ten years.They have also authored several well-known books in the fields of international and corporate finance, including one that is used as a textbook in the majority of leading MBA programs around the world. Dr. Shapiro was cited in 2005 in the Journal of Finance Literature as one of the most frequent contributors to academic finance literature over the past 50 years.

Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Sarin have over 30 years combined experience in creating strategies, studies, reports, expert testimony, and policy recommendations that reflect their specialization in financial economics. They have been engaged by private firms representing a wide variety of industries, and ranging in size from small, closely-held firms to large, international conglomerates. They have also consulted with government agencies and departments, including the California Franchise Tax Board, Canadian Department of Justice, Department of Energy, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Home Loan Bank System, Internal Revenue Service, Massachusetts Department of Revenue, New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, Resolution Trust Corp., Securities and Exchange Commission, and U.S. Department of Justice. They have been retained as experts in a wide range of litigation matters and have extensive experience in providing testimony at depositions and trials.
